CASI Foundation Technical Assistance
The CASI Foundation in partnership with Jul Enterprise provides capacity building supports for non-profit organizations. Jul Enterprise offers a series of workshops designed to cover all aspects of organizational capacity building. Held on a regular basis, these workshops and seminars have attracted a national audience and strengthened communities all across the United States.
Below CASI Foundation highlights two workshops that help develop alternative funding streams for non-profit organizations.
Advanced Business Concepts
The importance of a comprehensive, well thought out business plan cannot be overemphasized
for a non-profit organization. Non-profits have successfully developed revenue generating
programs and services all across the country using important business concepts. Most non-profits
see themselves as grant seekers versus as revenue generators.
This course helps non-profits understand how to view their organization as a profit making institution. Participants explore unique opportunities for non-profit organizations to become revenue generators. Participants are exposed to advanced business planning concepts and learn about successful non-profit revenue generating strategies and business plans.
Non-Profit Small Business Development
Given the current reality that the resource pool for non-profits has become much more
competitive, and that the dollars allocated for non-profits are not increasing many non-profits
are looking for alternative revenue generating strategies to support their work.
The Non-Profit Small Business Development session provides an in-depth overview of several
for-profit models that have been implemented by non-profit organizations.
Specifically the training provides participants an in-depth taxonomy of how each of these non-profit, for-profit ventures started, the challenges and successes of the models, and a detailed cost benefit analysis highlighting how much revenue is generated from the ventures versus the up front costs. Participants gain an understanding of the implications for a non-profit starting a for-profit venture and the legal issues to consider.
